One of my most anticipated movies of the year was “Sucide Squad”. Naturally, I was a little bummed when I read the first negative opinions about the movies but went to watch it anyway. Here’s what I thought.
The Suicide Squad is a new built task force created to fight the worst enemies one could make up. It mostly consists of villains from the DC universe as they probably wouldn’t be missed in the case that they died which is considered to be very likely. Some of the villains gone good involved are Deadshot, Harley Quinn as well as Enchantress (Cara Delevigne), who can only be controlled because the military holds her heart.
First of all: I cannot agree with all the very bad reviews about the movie. Of course, there are things that could have been better but honestly, the same goes for your lovely, everybody’s favourite Marvel movies. The parts where the movie lacks power and action (read: the fight against the real villain) are outweighed with the parts where we enjoy the characters because they’re fun and they actually have a personality that goes beyond “we’re the good guys here and everyone else is bad” – especially because they’re actually bad too.
The relationship of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie, Wolf of Wall Street or The Big Short) and the Joker (Jared Leto, American Psycho or Dallas Buyers Club) might be a little too romantic for some long-established comic book fans but I loved the crazy relationship that seems to confuse the Joker in his twisted mind a little and I had wished to see a little more of that. Joker x Harley Quinn movie, anyone?
Moreover, I liked the background stories of Deadshot (Will Smith, I, Robot) and Diablo and can we also talk about how adorable Killer Croc is, even though he’s a scary, big saurian?
