A few months ago, I fell in love with making my planner look nicer through stickers. And ever since, I’ve been always on the hunt for more stickers. Sounds like a terrible addiction, but it’s not like that, I swear.
(lol) But shortly, after I started planning with stickers, I found this little Canadian shop called “OnceMoreWithLove“. I found that shop scrolling through Etsy and seeing a sticker sheet with bunnies on it that are looking sad and say, that they want to be cleaned. I use them ever since to plan when I will clean the bunny cage. (Sadly, they’re not available at the moment, but I’ll try to convince the shop owner that they’re indispensable for her shop …) 😛
Talking about the shop owner: The lovely person behind those great and super cute stickers is called Margaret and she’s such a lovely person. She cares about her customers and even has created some stickers on request for them. (She designed these fruits and vegetables for my sister, for example.) So, because I wanted to spread the news about this awesome person and to get her shop known, I took the chance to interview Margaret … and right down at the bottom, we’ll have a little surprise for you.
Hello Margaret. Would you like to tell us a little something about yourself?
Eek! This is a tough question! I’ll have to skip this because I’m not sure where to start haha 😛
What did you want to become when you were a child? Could you ever have imagined that you’d design stickers?
When I was young, I wanted to be a vet. I’m not sure why I never pursued that idea, but I did a bachelor of Science and then dental school. After realizing dentistry was not what I wanted because I wanted to involve my artistic personality more in my life, I switched to visual effects and worked in the movie industry for awhile. Last year at this time, I would have never expected to be making stickers, but this is honestly one of the most amazing turns in my life 🙂
How did you come up with the idea of creating stickers?
One of my best friends was obsessed with planner stickers and asked me to design some for her as a birthday present. I bought the Silhouette machine to make her stickers and unexpectedly joined the planning community from there!
What are you doing when you’re not doing stuff for your shop? Any great hobbies that we might not expect?
I love to hike (and not shower for days apparently :P)! I’ve done the West Coast Trail, the Juan de Fuca trail, and this year I’ll be tackling the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! Hopefully one day I can do Kilimanjaro or Everest… Other hobbies I enjoy are muay thai and krav maga and of course, doodling 🙂
Most of your stickers have those cute munchkins in them. What inspired you for their design?
I could never draw stick people right so I’ve been drawing munchkins in place of stick people for most of my life. It just felt natural to me and now I’m so happy to be able to share my munchkins with others!
What would be your favourite sticker sheet in your shop if you had to choose?
I think I have to say the road trip sticker set… It’s colourful and it expresses my love for traveling. Plus I fall asleep whenever I’m on a car so the sticker where one munchkin drives and the other is sleeping is so perfect for me. I have another idea in mind that I think will definitely be my favourite when it is released, but we’ll just have to wait until then!
What are your plans for the future? (e.g. for your shop, other achievements, whatever)
For my shop, I’m thinking of expanding to include other planner goodies such as clips, dashboards, and covers. Apart from munchkins, I will also be coming up with a new character! As for my future, that’s hard to say. I would love to continue my shop if I can. It feels so fulfilling to be able to make my own designs and see how happy it makes other people. I love being able to brighten up someone’s day with my artwork and this shop gives me such a great opportunity to do that.
